SPRING, Texas (Dec. 12, 2016) — Woodbine Development Corporation and InterMountain Management hosted the grand opening and ribbon cutting of the new 125-room Courtyard by Marriott in Spring, Texas on Thursday, December 9. The hotel, which opened for business in late July, sits inside Springwoods Village, an 1,800-acre master-planned community just south of The Woodlands and 20 miles north of downtown Houston.
About 175 people attended grand-opening and ribbon-cutting festivities featuring remarks, live music, refreshments and bites from the hotel’s Bistro and BarAttendees for the event included The Woodlands Chamber of Commerce, local business professionals, hotel staff and leadership from both Woodbine and InterMountain, which developed and share ownership of the property.
“Hospitality and tourism are integral for thoughtfully designed communities like Springwoods Village, and this grand opening and ribbon cutting gives us the opportunity to take a moment to celebrate this hotel coming to life and the destination it offers visitors and locals alike,” said King Scovell, managing partner and chief development officer for Woodbine, which also developed the neighboring Residence Inn Houston Springwoods Village in CityPlace, an extended-stay property.
The Courtyard is a convenient location for ExxonMobil, Southwestern Energy, Deloitte, Accenture and CHI St. Luke’s hospital travelers alike. The hotel’s tech-enabled rooms provide the necessary amenities for the corporate traveler to get work done, and the hybrid design offers a seamless transition from work to relaxation. The modern lobby provides ample space to relax and socialize in a visually stimulating atmosphere and includes media pods, complimentary Wi-Fi and a variety of seating zones. The hotel’s Bistro and Bar is the first restaurant in Springwoods Village. It is open for breakfast and dinner and offers a full bar in the evening. The four-story hotel also features a heated outdoor saline pool, fitness center and 1,000 square feet of meeting space to accommodate functions of up to 45 people.
“This beautifully designed Courtyard is a wonderful asset for our rapidly growing Springwoods Village area,” said Steven Terrebone, regional director of operations for InterMountain. “We’ve received a warm welcome from the community, and it’s been our pleasure to extend that same warm welcome to every guest who visits our hotel.”
Springwoods Village is a $10 billion, 1,800-acre sustainable master-planned community coming to life in Spring, Texas, just south of The Woodlands and 20 miles north of downtown Houston. Located at the confluence of I-45, the Hardy Toll Road, and the Grand Parkway, the nature-inspired residential and commercial community will provide diverse housing options, civic facilities, outdoor recreation and the 60-acre CityPlace with office space, shopping, dining and lodging in an urban, walkable environment.
“Thanks to the ExxonMobil campus, Southwestern Energy’s headquarters and CHI St. Luke’s hospital, Springwoods Village has become a significant employment center in north Harris County, stimulating a new hotel submarket in the area,” said Keith Simon, executive vice president of CDC Houston. “Courtyard by Marriott is the second hotel in our community, reflecting our strategy of providing a range of hotel properties at different price points and with different levels of service, all within walking distance to work, dining, retail and recreation facilities.”
